a friend suggested i get on msn messenger so we could chat in the middle of the night. sounds good to me.

i checked out msn messenger on the msn site. i even downloaded the most recent, bright, shiny version for mac osx. after launching the handy 'set-up assistant,' i found i had to sign up for a 'passport' from msn. i'm done signing up for shit for a while. oh, well; instant messaging is so 1999.

never mind the fact that john ruiz was made into mush on saturday... whats with this depth chart?

flutie i can see as a credible backup, once they decide between chris redman and the new guy as The Future and send rohan davey back to jamaica. RBs make sense, FB and TE exactly where i'd imagine... logan mankins will jump in when either stephen neal or russ hochstein have that hamstring or ankle issue they're both overdue for. all of this i understand. but with regards to WR: on one side we have deion branch (health risk), troy brown (not under contract!), bethel johnson (immature even if i am his top apologist), and kevin kasper (don't apologize if you've never heard of him), and on the other side we have david terrell (unproven), david givens (why is this man not a starter?), and tim dwight (from the falcons). am i crazy, or are we one major injury away from randall gay as slot back? or earthwind moreland? (more on him later)... point is, who the fuck are these guys?

and if that isn't bad enough... what was the positional area where we had the biggest Stretch last year? if you answered 'fullback,' you get an 'e' for effort, but the one and only correct answer is Defensive Back. so who are the projected starters for the 05 pats? on one side we have asante samuel (i love this guy), troy brown (will not play CB anymore, oh, and also NOT UNDER CONTRACT!!), eugene wilson (when not busy at free safety), randall gay (when not slot back), and finally, if we haven't forgotten, the FIFTH string corner TYRONE POOLE! what the fuck?! there is some serious disconnect here, because this man is either a starter, or he's trade fodder. we start him, or we find out what we can get for him. having this man serve gatorade smoothies to randall gay and earthwind moreland (still more to come...) is not the best use of his talents. meanwhile, on the other side, we have duane starks (new guy, phenom), randall gay (deserves a second-string spot), and earthwind moreland (is he back? did he never leave? why is he on the depth chart? where is hank poteat?). at the anchor, we have rodney harrison (of course), je'rod cherry (seriously underrated), and dexter reid (fucking worthless). (just keep dexter reid away from anyone who may actually catch the ball, and its four in five years). and in centerfield we have eugene wilson, don (i'm really a linebacker, but don't tell Coach B) davis, dexter (mushmouth) reid, and the very intriguing guss scott.

this is the year we prove ourselves or wither. it all rests on earthwind moreland...

“The red is symbolic of the blood our troops are spilling over there,” Rivera said. He called for every American who supports the troops to wear something red.

Isn't this like supporting traffic safety? 'Support the troops' is a feel-good 'position' that (nearly) everyone can get behind without offending anyone. Instead of this, all Americans who are against the troops can wear teal on Tuesdays. That way, they'll stand out better in line at the Old Country Buffet.

He said he is excited that now people are coming out and admitting their commitment to the armed forces. He added, for a while it was popular to protest the war, but more people are showing up on the other side now. Wearing red on Fridays would be a way to show support for the troops, he said, which would be a positive thing in contrast to the negativity which has often surrounded the war.

It was truly shameful how Americans failed to support those who fought in WWII; they didn't even bother to wear a certain color on a certain day! In my lifetime, I can remember during the Gulf War, some people didn't tie large yellow ribbons around all the trees in their front yard. It was just awful. I wish someone had worn red to symbolize the blood our troops were shedding, just to bring a positive feeling to the whole fucking nightmare! A little war and spilled blood needn't be surrounded by negativity...
